Algae Advisory
Effective Immediately
Algae samples collected at Silver Lake Beach exceeded the recreational water quality objective for Cyanobacteria (total) cell count of 100,000 cells/mL. Algal toxin microcystin concentration was below the recreational water quality objective (20 µg/L). Last observations indicate that the bloom has dissipated. Algae advisory signage has been posted and will remains posted for the remainder of the swimming season.
In the absence of a severe algal bloom, recreational activities are considered safe. However, if large amounts of green scum are visible in the water, it is advisable to:
Avoid swimming or other contact with the water; Do not drink the water, boiling or chlorination will not make the water safe; Prevent pets and livestock from drinking along the shoreline; Do not eat fish from the lake that appear unhealthy.
